Everyday, there is a new producer who wants to learn how to DJ like Zedd, but becoming one of the greats is easier said than done.

Anton Zaslavski was born in Russia, on September 2, 1989. By the age of 4, Zaslavski was already playing the piano. He later picked up the drums when he turned 12. His parents, both musicians, encouraged Zaslavski’s classical training in music.

In 2002, Zaslavski joined the German band Dioramic, signed to Lifeforce Records. While touring with his band, Zaslavski listened to the album ‘†’ by French electronic duo Justice. It was this album that piqued his interest in electronic dance music, which he began producing in 2009.

Under the name Zedd, Zaslavski has produced a wide variety of remixes and originals. He’s collaborated with well-known artists including Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas and Justin Bieber.

Some of Zedd’s most notable remixes include Skrillex’s ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ and Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way.’ The latter appeared on the special edition version of the ‘Born This Way’ studio album.

Zedd signed with Interscope Records in 2012. His debut single, ‘Spectrum,’ featured vocals by Matthew Koma and was released on June 4, 2012. That same year, Zedd produced and co-wrote ‘Beauty and a Beat,’ the third single for Justin Bieber’s studio album ‘Believe.’

In 2013, Zedd once again collaborated with Lady Gaga, this time producing three songs for her album ‘Artpop.’ He also produced the song ‘Heaven’ from Namie Amuro’s album ‘Feel.’

Recently, Zedd has found success working alongside artists such as Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez. ‘Break Free’ by Ariana Grande and Zedd peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number one on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs.

On February 23, 2015, Zedd released his collaboration with Selena Gomez, titled ‘I Want You to Know.’ He is set to release his second studio album, ‘True Colors,’ on May 19, 2015.

Zedd creates his music using the Cubase suite of music production applications. He also uses a variety of plugins such as the Sylenth1, Nexus, SynthMaster 2.6 and Omnisphere synthesizers, and the Kontakt sampler.
